I have an extensive background in architecture. For years it has remained my passion. My art nearly always reflects some aspect of the built environment. The inclusion of birds, cats, dogs and people add a story-like interest to the image. These elements, along with the setting, accompanying landscape, and lighting are combined to create a particular mood, ambiance, and “sense of place” that is unique to each piece. The images are digitally constructed from my photographs, water color paintings, and a library of images I have built over the years. Each final piece is ordinarily a sixty to eighty hour effort. Significant portions of the image may be created directly within the graphic software. In the Nostalgic Homes collection for example, the houses depicted do not actually exist anywhere except in my imagination. When combined with other components within my image library, the setting comes alive with a suggestion of a story about to happen. What will take place depends upon the viewer! To me, the architecture of different periods reflects the thinking and values of the time. My work attempts to capture that time, humanize it, and preserve it in a way that can always be enjoyed. When I enter into these pieces I gain an appreciation of that time, and can lose myself totally in the ambiance, feeling, and sense of place offered by each of these images.
